Used avionics: check what you are buying before the price.
Exact model, included components and declared condition: what to ask before assessing an instrument.

At a glance
A trade name is not enough to compare two instruments. Identify the model, version and components included in the sale. Before buying, have a competent professional assess compatibility with your system and whether installation is possible.
The exact model makes a difference
Ask for a readable photo of the label and note the product codes. Two similar-looking devices may have different equipment or versions. Claims such as “complete radio” or “GPS ready to use” need explanation: complete with which parts, and for what use?
Check what will be delivered: main unit, mounts, wiring, connectors, antennas, manuals or other components. Do not assume an accessory shown in a photo is included in the price.
Declared condition and tests
Distinguish a device removed in working condition from one bench-tested, untested or intended for repair. Ask when and how tests were performed and what their limitations are. A photo of a lit display only shows what was visible at that moment.
A low price can be attractive, but also consider missing components, necessary work and installation costs. For devices with batteries, software or associated services, ask what remains usable and what needs separate activation.
Do not guess compatibility
Before buying, have the model and documentation checked against your aircraft and the planned installation. A device fitted to another aircraft is not automatically suitable for yours. Requirements may differ by aircraft classification, configuration and country.
VFRMarket collects sellers’ statements; it does not certify compatibility, compliance or suitability for installation. Use current manufacturer documentation and qualified professionals for technical advice.
Agree clearly before shipping
Agree on the items, their condition, packaging, delivery and financial terms. Keep the offer description and relevant communications. If the value or uncertainty warrants it, consider an in-person inspection before concluding the deal.
